Your Golden Ticket Awaits You in Fremont

April 4th, 2011 by amichaelis

So I have taken a little break from posting during the busiest season my interior design company has ever been through, but my husband and I did have a chance to go on the chocolate factory tour at Theo in Fremont. The tour turned out to be really fun and you will not even need a golden ticket. Being the diehard Read the rest of this entry »

Faded Elegance in Snohomish

December 6th, 2010 by amichaelis

My husband and I did some Christmas shopping the other night in Snohomish and I was pleasantly surprised by a few very stylish little shops along the main street. Faded Elegance is an antique mall (meaning that different vendors fill their

Sublime Seclusion at The Salish

November 20th, 2010 by amichaelis

For my birthday this year we took a trip to the Salish Lodge in Snoqualmie. Salish is one of my favorite close-to-home vacations and with the Costco package (available on-line) it is not a bad deal. It is a great place to get away from the speed of normal life  Read the rest of this entry »

Glitzy Paris in Earthy Ballard

November 16th, 2010 by amichaelis

Is that a bistro in Paris? Why no, it is Bastille Cafe and Bar and although the ambiance will transport you across an ocean, this little gem is right in the heart of Ballard. There are no cliche Parisian knick-knacks just a large scale commitment to a very well defined visualdirection. Read the rest of this entry »

November 12th, 2010 by amichaelis

The Velocity website has long been one of my favorite resources for modern furnishings and accessories and little did I know that the store was in my own city and just down the street from where I get my hair cut. I love the vibrant colors set against a backdrop of white walls and big windows. Velocity is Read the rest of this entry »

A few months back I told you about the Modern Shed display at The Seattle Home Show. As a follow up I recently visited a Modern Shed open house event in Port Townsend, Washington. The compound consists of three buildings each with an eye on environmentally friendly design. The biggest is the main Read the rest of this entry »

The Most Perfect Fall Experience

October 22nd, 2010 by amichaelis

“The Farm” in Snohomish is a Norman Rockwell painting come to life. It is everything perfect about fall, and it is not truly fall for me until I have gone to pick out my pumpkins, visit the kittens in the petting zoo and eaten a little too much of a giant home-made cinnamon roll. This picture perfect fall Read the rest of this entry »

Inside look at Belltown’s Ace Hotel.

October 21st, 2010 by amichaelis

If you don’t know about the Ace Hotel, you should. In honor of the Ace Hotel I would like to coin a new style, I am calling it “Granola Modern”. The Ace is modern without a doubt, the surprise is the rustic touches. Modern can sometimes be intimidating but the Ace makes all feel welcome and brings mountain Read the rest of this entry »
